ANNUAL REPORT (2017-2018)

Well this year we have made a slight change for the presentation of Annual Report 2017-2018.  We always look forward for a change so we thought, let this year’s Annual Report presentation be a change and the students of Ebenezer International Residential School will present the report in a visualized form.

As we step into the 17 years of quality education coming to the end of 16 years.  Indeed it’s a blessed year for Ebenezer with 100% result in AISSCE & AISSE and also being honoured by the Indywood excellence Award received on 10th March 2017 and the Brainfeed School Excellence Award received on 12th November, 2017.  The feats of excellence that the school has achieved can be understood from the trophies and mementos received for being one among top 500 schools in India.  The ministry of Human Resource Development has given four star rating in regard to Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2017-2018.  These achievements have further heightened the position and esteem of our school.

SCHOOL PARLIAMENT

The School Parliament was held on 21st June 2017 along with Yoga Day celebrations.  Col. Shashank Khelkar, Commanding Office 17 Kerala NCC Batallion was the Chief Guest.  His inspiring words have motivated the students in positive way.

SCHOOL YOUTH FEST –SOLEMNITAS 2017

To showcase the inborn talent of students school youth fest was held on 21st and 22nd July 2017.  Almost all the students took part in different items and the trophy was bagged by Red Cardinal followed by Peacock.

 SCHOOL EXHIBITION AND ON THE SPOT COMPETITION

The students exhibited their outstanding talents through various experiments, models, projects craft works, flower arrangement, vegetable carving etc. Parents were also invited to visit and acknowledge their ward’s effort.

 ANNUAL SPORTS MEET

Annual Sports Meet was inaugurated by the Principal on 17th November 2017 and our CEO Sri Jaan M Thottumalil was the chief guest.  Students with great sportsman spirit participated in all the items.  Blue Jay was the winner and Canary was the runner up.

MONTHLY PROGRAMME

  • Every month first Friday prayer service is conducted so that students should grow in spirituality.
  • Giving importance to cleanliness, clean class rooms are implemented and the best class rooms are awarded with rolling trophies for each month.
  • Class wise Quiz and inter class Quiz is conducted every month to improve the general awareness and rolling trophies are presented to the concerned classes.
  • To give the awareness and to bring out the creativity a topic was given and based on that Bulletin Board were arranged. The winning classes were given the rolling trophies.
  • Star Reading & News:- To inculcate reading habit and to improve General Knowledge students are asked to write news every day by keeping a news book and also to write the summary of stories read by them. The best write ups were awarded in the Assembly monthly by presenting them useful books.
  • Clubs and Activities:- Every Thursday Clubs and activities are conducted for Class VI-IX and on Fridays I-V.

CELEBRATION AND COMPETITION

FRENCH DAY

The French students with the help of French teachers conducted the School Assembly in French language presenting variety of programmes.

ONAM CELEBRATION

Onam, festival of harvest was celebrated on 31st August 2017, students of various classes came up with Thiruvathira Kali and other dance forms, with the arrival of Mahabali, Onam celebration was colourful.  To share the feeling of oneness Ona Sadhya was given to all.

KERALA PIRAVI(MALAYALAM DAY)

To commemorate the 61st birth anniversary of Kerala, our Malayalam department showcased the talent of our students by presenting various programme in Malayalam and giving the message, importance of Malayalam.

CHILDREN DAY CELEBRATION

14th November was observed as Children’s day.  Our teachers performed different programmes for students and conducted the school assembly

TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION & STUDENTS DAY

The students of Ebenezer School cherished the beautiful moment by presenting a memorable day for their beloved teachers showing their gratitude and respect on the eve of Teachers’ day and also students were given the responsibility of taking the charge of teachers.

CHRISTMAS DAY AND ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION

December 22, 2017 a remarkable day where our school will be witnessing Christmas Day and Annual Day celebration “Celebrazione”.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS

To ensure that our students are equipped to face any challenge, we have focused on few students’ enrichment programmes as follows:-

  • A personality development programme was conducted on 12 & 13 June by Adv. Phijo Joseph, a human resource trainer.
  • An orientation cum memory development training programme for Classes IX, X & XI was conducted on 2nd August 2017 by Sri Nanda Lal.
  • Career development programme was conducted for the students of Std. X, XI & XII by different resource persons.

STAFF ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

Staying updated is the key to success in any field, especially in the field of education.  Our teachers constantly strive to stay updated, by attending workshops and various training programmes.

Few of them are as listed:-

Capacity Building Programme on Life Skills by Central Board of Secondary Education was organized by Ebenezer International Residential School on 19th August 2017 where 70 teachers from different schools participated.  It was a great success.

Orientation programmes were conducted in different subjects in different venues and schools for teachers.

ENVIRONMENT DAY

June 5th along with the re-opening day the school celebrated World Environment Day.  The school Principal distributed saplings to the students and encourage them for planting more plants in their surroundings.

PARENTS TEACHER MEETING & BOOK FAIR

Parents Teachers Meetings are held at regular intervals to review the activities of the students and seek parent’s participation and feedback.  A Book Fair was conducted by the school to inculcate the value of reading habits.

PICNICS & TOUR

Picnics and tours are part of education where students spend some time apart from their books so that they can enjoy cherish and make it a memorable day in their life.  This year also students were taken for picnic and tours to different places.

MEDICAL CHECK UP

A medical check-up for all the students was organized in the school in association with “Wellness Solution Kochi”.  A Health Card is being maintained for all the students as per CBSE rule.  A medical team of 21 members took part to give M R Vaccination to the students under the age group of 5-15.

SMART BRAIN QUIZ

Race Solution of Vyttila organized Smart Brain Quiz on 30th October 2017.  Our students participated for the same.

INTER HOUSE DEBATE & QUIZ

Inter House debate and Inter House Quiz were conducted and all the four houses took part.

CHARITY

As part of value based education to encourage the habit of helping the needy, we had placed charity boxes in every class.  The total amount collected was Rs.50000 and on 20th December, our students visited “Asraya” and handed over the dress materials to the inmates to the authorities.  The amount was handed over to Rev. Father John Iype Mangattu on the Annual Day.

The students and teachers visited “Seenai”- special school- and celebrated Christmas with them by cutting cake and presenting cultural programmes and also handed an amount of Rs.25000 to the organization.

The students also purchased Christmas Cards for Rs.17000 given by Capuchin Brothers and also an amount of Rs.25000/- was handed over to Capuchin Vidyabhavan for poor and needy people.

KOTTAYAM SAHODAYA AND INTER SCHOOL PARTICIPATION

“Sky is not the limit”

Ebenezer has always encouraged the students to come forward and participates not only in school competition and activities but also outside school.  Here are the following competitions where our students were able to show case their talent.

SAHODAYA YOUTH FESTIVAL

Sahodaya Youth Festival was conducted on September 23 and 3, 4 & 5 October 2017 at Mangalam English Medium School, Ettumanoor.  118 students participated from our school and Ebenezer stood with 16th position.

SAHODAYA BASKET BALL TOURNAMENT

Sahodaya Basket Ball Tournament was organized by Sacred Heart Public School, S.H Mount, Kottayam on 15th & 16th September 2017.  Both the teams (boys & girls) played well.

SAHODAYA CHESS COMPETITION

Sahodaya Chess Competition was held at Warvin Public School.  9 students participated from our school.

SAHODAYA FOOT BALL TOURNAMENT

Sahodaya Foot Ball Tournament was organized by Labour India Gurukulam Public School, Marangattupally.  Our school team played well there.

SAHODAYA ATHLETIC MEET

Sahodaya Athletic Meet was held at Labour India Public School, Marangattupally.  33 students from our school participated.

Following are the students made Ebenezer proud.

  • Catarine Teresa Poly of Class-XI secured First Prize in Javelin Throw with meet record.
  • Inahuto Jakhalu of Class XI won 2nd Prize in 800m race.
  • Iris Neerakal of Class IX won 3rd Prize in High Jump.

CBSE CLUSTER ATHLETIC MEET

15 students of our participated in CBSE Cluster Meet organized at Municipal Synthetic Stadium, Pala from 26th to 29th October 2017.  Catarine Teresa Poly of Class-XI got second prize in Javelin Throw and she is qualified to participate National CBSE Athletic Meet held at Alon Public School, New Delhi.  She performed well there also.

Let’s Move on to our Tiny Toddlers

On 8th of June 2017, our tiny toddlers stepped in to the temple of learning with a small welcome programme, the little ones were handed safe in the hands of kindergarten teachers.  These teachers are the one who help the kids to hold the pencil and win the world.

Some of the new opening and celebration for kindergarten are as follows:-

  • Blue Day:- Blue Day was celebrated on 28th July 2017. All the students and teachers came in blue colour dresses and ornaments.  They did activity related to blue colour.
  • Origami Day:- Origami Day was conducted on 10th August 2017.  Children learned to make different shapes with origami paper and displayed.
  • Palm Impression:- Palm impression was held on 24th August 2017. Children made different shapes like animals, birds, trees, dress were made with palm impression of children.
  • Yellow Day:- On 9th of September Yellow Day was celebrated by K G students. Different activities were conducted and yellow colour sweets were brought by the students.
  • Kids’ Fest:- Kids’ Fest was celebrated on 12th & 13th October 2017. Children took part in different competition like fancy dress, action song…..etc.
  • Red Day:- Red was celebrated on 14th December 2017. Children made different shapes with red paper and wore red colour dress.

Conclusion

Before concluding this report, I bow my head in reverence to the Almighty God for the blessings He has showered upon this institution.  May I take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to students, staff both teaching and non teaching, parents and well wishers for the whole hearted co-operation.  Let me conclude this report by entrusting our school into the divine hands of Almighty God and invoke blessings of Lord Jesus.
